Project Justification: Please tell us what your project involves. What is included in the scope of your project?
There is an existing bushcare track on Crown land that commences at the end of the shared path opposite 31 Scerri Drive and extends inland for approximately 180 metres to the Kioloa Beach entrance. This track is used by residents and, in particular, by holidaymakers. It becomes impassable after heavy rain, forcing shared-path users onto a busy, potentially dangerous verge to reach Kioloa Beach. Note the traffic increases substantially when vehicles with boat trailers seek access to the Kioloa boat ramp. The last shared path, Bawley Point to Kioloa, will be completed by mid-December 2025, increasing the number of path users trying to reach Kioloa Beach via this bush track.
Please outline the project’s goals/ objectives.
The proposal is to upgrade the existing path to an all-weather path with low environmental impact and low-maintenance construction methods. The Bawley Point Kioloa Termeil Community Association (BPKTCA) proposes to fund the improvements, which could be completed within a maximum of three days, preferably before peak Christmas vehicular and boat traffic at the Kioloa boat ramp. The existing surface will not be disturbed, and labour will be provided by community members, supervised by community CP engineers. Estimated maximum community funding is approximately $ 15,000.
Please list key stakeholders.
