PRESS RELEASE
Harp Concert at Kioloa Coastal Campus: 5pm Sunday 11th January 2026
A world class Harp Concert in Kioloa, featuring six wonderful harp soloists, in one
concert only!
The Bangalay Room, London Shed on the Kioloa Coastal Campus will again
resound to the beautiful sounds of the harp. Harp concerts were a much-loved
annual event in the Kioloa calendar until the 2019 summer bushfires.
Internationally renowned solo harpist Alice Giles AM is Director of the Kioloa Harp
Courses, and she will perform alongside Jacinta Dennett (University of Melbourne),
William Nichols (Principal Harp, Opera Victoria), Kate Moloney (Sydney), Kristina
Johnson (Melbourne), Katia Mestrovic (Melbourne) in a program of harp solos and
ensemble.
All are former teachers, mentors, colleagues, and friends of Philippa McAuliffe (1999
– 2024), a young and extremely talented harpist who travelled from Adelaide to
attend the Summer Harp Courses at Kioloa each year from the time she was a
beginner. The concert will be a celebration of Philippa's love of the harp and for
Kioloa, and the music will especially feature the romantic harp repertoire she loved.
Both the concert and the Harp Courses of 2026 are generously sponsored by the
Estate of Philippa McAuliffe. Philippa's mother Georgina will be attending the
Summer Courses as a beginning student of the harp.
There will be a more informal concert featuring the harp course students on Saturday
17th January at 5pm.
Entry is by donation, with all proceeds going to the Philippa McAuliffe Kioloa Harp
Fund.
