The BPKCA through a submission to Ann Sudmalis the local federal member for Gilmore, managed to get Kioloa/Bawley Point on the Federal Government’s Mobile Black Spot Program in 2015.
The Federal Department of Communications issued a tender to all telecommunication suppliers in 2015 to bid for the installation of mobile towers and facilities in specific areas. Telstra won the right to install in Kioloa/Bawley Point.
BPKCA managed the interface between the Community and Telstra in terms of keeping the Community fully informed of progress. It also assisted Telstra in locating the tower at the ANU’s Southern Campus.
