SUMMARY:15/03 closes Public Comment-Shoalhaven Community Participation Plan on Planning and Development Matters (CPP)
DESCRIPTION:Click here for a copy of the draft Community Participation Plan…. \nClick here for a link to the GET INVOLVED PAGE and fill in SURVEY \nShoalhaven’s draft Community Participation Plan for Planning and Development Matters (CPP) is on public exhibition until Friday 14 March 2025. During this time\, the draft CPP will be available for viewing on Council’s website\, as well as on Council’s Get Involved page. \nThe draft CPP will also be available for viewing electronically and in hardcopy at the Nowra City Administration Centre (36 Bridge Road\, Nowra) and the Ulladulla Branch Office (14 Deering Street\, Ulladulla). The Customer Experience team is available to assist with\naccessing these documents at the front counter. \nThe draft CPP outlines how Council will engage with the community on matters relating\nspecifically to planning and development within Shoalhaven. It sets out community\nparticipation opportunities and explains how and when communities will be involved when\nCouncil exercises its land use planning and development approval functions. \nThe NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment (EP&A) Act 1979 requires the periodic\nreview and update of these plans to ensure they remain contemporary. The update of the\nCPP ensures it remains consistent with contemporary legislative requirements and provides opportunity to respond to feedback and issues identified since Council’s current CPP was adopted 2019. \nThe draft CPP will also simplify Council’s related policy framework by incorporating the\nrelevant requirements from Council’s Community Consultation Policy for Development\nApplications (including Subdivision). This policy is intended to be rescinded on\nfinalisation of the CPP. \nOn finalisation\, the CPP will also be included within Council’s broader Community\nEngagement Strategy 2025-2029. \nThe draft CPP is being exhibited in accordance with the requirements under the EP&A Act\n1979. Submissions must be received in writing before 5 pm on Friday 14 March 2025 via\neither: \n\nPost: The Chief Executive Officer\, Shoalhaven City Council\, PO Box 42\, Nowra\, NSW\, 2541.\nEmail: council@shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au\nWebsite: via the link on Council’s Documents on Exhibition page.\nSurvey: via Council’s Get Involved page.\n\nPlease quote Council’s reference 60605E in submissions. \nPre-printed form letters\, which have been individually signed\, will be considered but not\nformally acknowledged.  Submissions may become public documents and may be viewed\nby other persons on request.  All persons who lodge a submission are required to declare\nany relevant political donations and/or gifts in accordance with Section 10.4(5) of the EP&A Act 1979. \nIf you need further information about this matter\, please contact the Strategic Planning\nProject Team on (02) 4429 5884.  Please quote Council’s reference 60605E (D25/52944).

SUMMARY:International Women's Day Events Shoalhaven March 2025
DESCRIPTION:International Women’s Day (IWD)stemmed from the struggles of working-class women for better pay and conditions\, and has been observed since the early 1900s. \nBy then\, the English Suffragists had already adopted Green\, White\, and Violet – Give Women the Vote -as the colours for their flag. \nThe banner of IWD helped launch new campaigns for suffrage and equal rights. In Australia\, women were given the right to vote in 1902. \nHowever\, it was only in 1962 that First Nations people were offered the option to vote\, becoming compulsory in 1984. \nSee below for a list of events in March 2025 within the Shoalhaven. \nFINAL IWD Events 2025 Brochure\nClick here for a PDF copy.

SUMMARY:Tuesday 11/02 Public Exhibition & Community Consultation - Draft Willinga Lake Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Plan
DESCRIPTION:We recommend that the community attend this session to understand the Willinga Lake Study and the Floodplain Risk Management Plan proposed. Its also an opportunity to get your questions answered. \nClick here to get to the Council Get Involved PAGE \nA copy of the draft plan is below. \nWillinga preview_latest_final_version_pdf\nAlso\, please find some additional informative technical reports on what is important for managing an ICOLL (Intermittently Closed Open Lakes and Lagoons) type estuary. \n2021 form-and-function-of-nsw-intermittently-closed-and-open-lakes-and-lagoons-210150\nA community drop-in session will be held from 3pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday 11 February 2025 at the Bawley Point RFS where the community can meet Council staff\, local SES volunteers and consultants working on this project. There are no scheduled presentations\, so the community can simply call in at a time that suits them to ask questions and provide feedback. \nThe online survey is open from Tuesday 28 January to Monday 24 February 2025 and available via the project’s Get Involved Page: \nhttps://getinvolved.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/willinga-lake-flood-study \nCouncil is undertaking public exhibition and community consultation of the Draft Willinga Lake Flood Study and Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan (FRMSP)\, and so wanted to share the below with you for your information. This email follows on from an email dated 13 July 2023 regarding the commencement of this study. \nProject Objectives: \nThe primary objective of this study is to improve understanding of flood behaviour\, and better inform management of flood risk in the study area into the future. The study will also provide a sound technical basis for further flood risk management investigations and potential future works in the area. \nWhilst there are a small number of properties directly impacted on by flooding\, the Bawley Point and Kioloa villages include properties which could become isolated due to inundation of a low-lying section of Bawley Point Road from Willinga Lake and other local catchments crossing Bawley Point Road and Murramarang Road. This study will provide valuable information for the community and emergency services to improve their preparedness and response to flood events. \nThe aim of the upcoming public exhibition and community consultation phase is for Council to seek feedback from the community regarding the Draft Willinga Lake Flood Study and FRMSP such that comments can be considered prior to finalisation of the study. Importantly\, community feedback will be considered when finalising the Willinga Lake Floodplain Risk Management Plan which will outline adopted flood risk management strategies into the future. \nCommunity Consultation \nAs part of the community consultation\, Council will directly mail residents within the Willinga Lake catchment informing them about the commencement of the public exhibition and community consultation of this study. The letter includes a link to the project’s Get Involved Page\, which will include the following during the public exhibition period: \n\nA video presentation that discusses the study development and key outcomes;\nA short summary report that outlines the study development and key outcomes;\nDraft Willinga Lake Flood Study\, Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan\, and Mapping Compendium;\nLink to an online community survey to provide feedback; and\nNSW State Emergency Service (SES) Rural Properties FloodSafe brochure which provides useful information on what to do when flooding is likely\, how to stay informed during a flood event\, flood evacuation information and contact details for emergency services.\n\nHard copies of the report can be viewed during the public exhibition period at the Nowra City Administration Centre\, 36 Bridge Road\, Nowra; and Ulladulla Branch Office\, 14 Deering Street\, Ulladulla. Council will also place corflute signs in key locations informing the community of the consultation period. \nA community drop-in session will be held from 3pm to 6:30pm on Tuesday 11 February 2025 at the Bawley Point RFS where the community can meet Council staff\, local SES volunteers and consultants working on this project. There are no scheduled presentations\, so the community can simply call in at a time that suits them to ask questions and provide feedback. \nThe online survey is open from Tuesday 28 January to Monday 24 February 2025 and available via the project’s Get Involved Page: \ngetinvolved.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/willinga-lake-flood-study

SUMMARY:2025-2035 Financial Plan-"Have you Say" Special Rate Rise closes this Thursday 5th December
DESCRIPTION:Undoubtedly\, the Council\, its staff\, Councillors\, Mayor White and the recently formed Finance Advisory Committee are working hard to solve the financial crisis. \nFive recent natural disasters and historical poor capital work decisions have not helped the situation. The Council has a staff freeze\, and capital projects are on hold. All Council business units are working to set financial reduction targets. \nIt will take 10 years of tough decision-making and well-considered\, constructive\,  and collaborative fiscal management to sort this out\, including—support from State and Federal governments\, which will also be essential. \nPlease take some time to read through the information on the Council web pages and also “Have Your Say” by completing the survey. \nClick here for a link to the SCC Special Rate Rise Variation page. \nGo to Documents for a PDF copy of the 2025-2035 Draft Long Term Financial Plan\, or read below. \nClick here to calculate your rate estimate \nClick here to have your say on the proposed Rate RIse\, complete the survey \nSCC Draft Long Term Financial Plan 2025-2034

SUMMARY:Have your Say SCC-Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) closes for comment 2nd December
DESCRIPTION:Help Shape Shoalhaven’s Journey to True Reconciliation\n\n\n\n\n\n\nShoalhaven City Council’s draft Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is now available for review\, and your thoughts and feedback are urgently needed.\n\n\n\n\n\nWhy Does A RAP Matter?\nReconciliation Action Plans are much more than words on a page—they represent a commitment to action. Across Australia\, RAPs are built on four stages of development\, often spanning decades\, to ensure genuine progress. Each step requires demonstrated commitment and measurable outcomes\, reflecting a journey of healing and respect. \nShoalhaven’s RAP will be launched in May 2025 and finalized in late 2026. This is a unique opportunity to shape how we uphold respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our local area. \nFor a copy of the draft RAP\, click here. \nLeave your Council feedback; click here. \nShare your thoughts with Yila Healing Trail via this email:- info@yilahealingtrail.au \n241124 Gmail - Have Your Say on Shoalhaven’s Reconciliation Action Plan\nRead the draft RAP; see below. \nSCC draft RAP preview_latest_final_version_pdf

SUMMARY:SCC Council meeting-Development Application– SF10987 33 Forest Road KIOLOA
DESCRIPTION:There has been a lot of positive progress since the Council recently deferred a DA SF10987 33 Forest Rd Kioloa decision involving the Community\, Council Development Officers\, BPKTCA Officers\, SCC Mayor & Councillors. \nThe applicant has submitted a revised plan for lots\, which increased the lot sizes along the South and East boundaries\, significantly lowering the risk potential of waste discharge into adjacent creeks and beaches. \nNo pump-outs were proposed\, and this non-compliance would have been of great concern to the BPKTCA and Council\, as was the risk of effluent treatment failure\, which has now been reduced. \nThe average lot size\, including drainage easement\, is 2378.7m2 (95.1%) of the 2500m2; the lot numbers have been reduced from 21 to 17. \nSmaller lots 1-6 in Stage 1  still exist\, ranging from 1313.9m2 to 2302.8m2; they are near existing smaller lots. \nPlease see the revised plan included\, which shows the proposed 17 Lots\, sizes and layouts; more details are included in the Council meeting minutes attachments. \n241106 BPKTCA - z33 Forest Road - Amended draft Plan of Subdivision - 6.11.24\nCommunity members who raised objections have been advised on how to stay involved; see below.  If you still have concerns\, please contact your local Councillors or the Council Officer listed below. \n241107 Report to Council - 12 November - SF10987 - 33 Forest Rd KIOLOA\nPlease see the attached extract from the Council Meeting Attachments for Tuesday\, 12th November 2024. \nPages from 241112 CL_20241112_ATT_18125_EXCLUDED-2\n  \n
